  27. There are a couple of such programs on wsmr-simtel20.army.mil in the 
  28. hamradio directory.  There are a few in the astronomy forum on Compuserve.
  29. Some can be found on various space and astronomy related phone bbs's around
  30. the country.

  32. Most of these public domain or freely distributed programs are very simple
  33. programs that do a few calculations, and print or display some numbers.
  34. A generation of programs that are significantly more advanced, using graphics
  35. to show you the implications (earth coverage, motion, etc) of a satellite,
  36. extensive geographic databases, so you can pop your favorite cities onto
  37. the screen at the touch of a button, scheduling functions so you can quickly
  38. determine when a satellite will come into view... are now available.

  40. Some of these are commercial programs, and high priced, of course, but quite
  41. a few of such programs are now widely used in the amateur radio community
  42. and distributed via AMSAT.  AMSAT is a non-profit organization that builds
  43. and launches amateur radio satellites.  They have programs for every
  44. personal computer known to man:  HP calculators, Sinclair, Amiga, PC, Mac,
  45. Commodore 64...

  47. With no modesty whatsoever, i suggest you call AMSAT, at 301-589-6062,
  48. and ask them to send you the info sheet on the program I wrote, called
  49. InstantTrack.

  51. AMSAT charges a small donation for copies of the software they distribute,
  52. but the entire amount goes to support the amateur radio space program.
